Business Environment Essay
1.LIST SOME STAKEHOLDERS OF MCDONALDS. CLASIFY THEM AS INTERNAL, CONNECTED AND EXTERNAL TYPES. Stakeholders can be defined as ââ¬Å"individuals and groups who are affected by the activities of an organization. The most important stakeholders can be seen as those with most to lose from the organizationââ¬â¢s actions, but this does not always reflect their relative powerâ⬠An organizationââ¬â¢s stakeholders are all parties who can reasonably be understood to be affected by its decisions. They can be deemed to represent the businessââ¬â¢s social and environmental capital as well as economic. Stakeholders can be of very different and varied guises and also harbor conflicting interests consequently, its image and reputation in the eyes of its stakeholders is critical to the company. Mainly they can be categorized into three major groups: 1) Internal Stakeholders 2) Connected Stakeholders 3) External Stakeholders 4) Stakeholders Conflicts Stakeholders are found in all organizations, businesses or firms ââ¬â from a local grocery store to huge multinational companies such as Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Microsoft. The number of stakeholders per business will vary as will their importance and influence. The type of organization or product / service it supplies will also determine its stakeholders. A Public Limited Corporation may have far more stakeholders than a family owned business due to its vast numbers of shareholders. Discussing about McDonalds, it also hold many stakeholders those who getà affected and vice versa. Stakeholders of McDonalds can be categorized into the three major groups as shown under: Internal Stakeholders Following are the stakeholders which fall under this category: 1)Managers or Directors 2)Staff or Employees Internal stakeholders are those who are ââ¬Ëmembersââ¬â¢ of the business organization. These stakeholders are situated within the McDonald and may affect the ââ¬Ëday-to-dayââ¬â¢ running of McDonalds or be affected. Their interest would be in the McDonald`s success which will alternatively secure their career and assure them for high wages and benefits. à Example of the internal stakeholder for McDonald would be as follows: â⬠¢The employees/staff member working in the McDonaldââ¬â¢s restaurant Connected Stakeholders Following are the stakeholders which fall under this category: 1)Shareholders 2)Customers 3)Suppliers 4)Finance providers Connected stakeholders are those outside the organization but have a direct interest with the progress of the business. McDonaldââ¬â¢s suppliers would want that the business runs and grows well, as this will ensure more supplies to McDonald. The owner/shareholder will look forward for high turnover, while the customer will look for a great value of the money which they are going to spend Example of connected stakeholders for McDonaldââ¬â¢s would be as follows: â⬠¢Shareholder/owner: Emirates Fast Food Corporation LLC â⬠¢Supplier: Coca-Cola External Stakeholders Following are the stakeholders which fall under this category: 1)Community 2)Environmental Pressure Groups 3)Government 4)Trade unions External stakeholders are those who are not the member of the organization, but they are indirectly affected with the ups and downs of the business. Example of the external stakeholders of the McDonaldââ¬â¢s in UAE is as follows: â⬠¢Government: Environment Agency UAE Stakeholders Conflicts There are many chances of conflicts among the interests of the stakeholders, i.e. customers would like to avail the best product and service at a very low price, while on the other hand managers and directors would be expecting increase in the profit ratio, which cannot be achieved by offering the products and services at a low price. à Logically, a company should tailor its communication to each stakeholder group individually to engage the special concerns of that group. It is important that an organization meets the needs of the most dominant stakeholders, but the needs of the other stakeholders need to be considered ââ¬â nearly every decision becomes a compromise. 2.How does McDonald`s social responsibility affects its business and stakeholders? We use three key strengthsââ¬âour scope, our people and our profitsââ¬âto make a meaningful and lasting impact on the global communities where we live and work. McDonaldââ¬â¢s support its communities by working for them in a wide perspective. Mentioning some of the activities that McDonalds carry in favor of the community as under: WHEN DISASTER STRIKES â⬠¢When tragedy arrives, McDonaldââ¬â¢s the McDonaldââ¬â¢s System responds. McDonaldââ¬â¢s employees, franchisees and suppliers mobilize to provide assistance in manyà forms. Over the last several years, our System has provided food and other assistance to victims of such disasters as the 9/11 tragedy in New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. in 2001, the tsunami in Southeast Asia in 2004 and the devastating hurricane season in the U.S. in 2005 â⬠¢During the May 12 earthquake in China. McDonaldââ¬â¢s China served almost 40,000 meals to earthquake victims, relief workers, military personnel, hospitals and police and fire department officers. THE MCDONALDââ¬â¢S FAMILY GIVES BACK â⬠¢McDonaldââ¬â¢s employees, and others within the McDonaldââ¬â¢s system, are given the opportunity to provide support for members of the system in the aftermath of natural disasters. McDonaldââ¬â¢s Family Charity, established in 2000, has succeeded in distributing close to $4 million to over 4,000 individuals who have lost their homes or possessions during natural disasters. â⬠¢In January 2004, McDonaldââ¬â¢s Restaurants of Canada created the 10 Cent Happy Meal Donation program. Through this program, RMHC Canada receives 10 cents from the sale of every Happy Meal purchased, at every Canadian McDonaldââ¬â¢s restaurant, every day of the year. It is RMHC Canadaââ¬â¢s largest source of funding, reaching a milestone in 2009 of CA$25 million in total donations since inception GOING GREEN â⬠¢McDonaldââ¬â¢s delivery trucks in the United Arab Emirates are running on 100 percent biodiesel made with recycled vegetable oil from the chainââ¬â¢s more than 80 restaurants in the Emirates. 3.What are the factors that contributed to a ââ¬Ëgoodââ¬â¢ corporate image of McDonaldââ¬â¢s? A corporate image is the sum of the impressions that stakeholders (customers, suppliers, employees and the community) hold about your companyââ¬âin other words, your reputation. The goal is to show what you are as a company throughout all its facets (not pretending to be something you arenââ¬â¢t) Following are the factors that lead to a good corporate image of McDonalds: â⬠¢Being a Responsible and Good Employer â⬠¢Fair Dealing with Suppliers â⬠¢Taking care of the Customers â⬠¢Transparent company policy Being a Responsible and Good Employer McDonalds is considered to be one of the best examples as a good employer. A Mission Statement defines the organizationââ¬â¢s purpose and primaryà objectives. By crafting a clear mission statement and vision statement, you can powerfully communicate your intentions and motivate your team or organization to realize an attractive and inspiring common vision of the future. McDonalds MISSION STATEMENTS The two most famous mission statements of McDonalds are as follows: 1)ââ¬Å"To be our customers favorite place and way to eatâ⬠2)ââ¬Å"Promote diversity and inclusion among our employees, owner/operator and supplier who represent diverse populations McDonaldââ¬â¢s serve around the globeâ⬠Looking at the brand mission statement of McDonalds it clearly indicates that McDonalds is highly customer focused. They are committed to improve their operations and enhance their customersââ¬â¢ experience. They follow QSC&V strategy, QSC&V is an abbreviation for Quality, Service, Cleanliness & Value which is said to be a benchmark used throughout the world by the McDonaldââ¬â¢s Corporation. This criterion is used for every customer, each and every time. In order to fulfill the mission statement the staff and employees form a friendly and happy environment in their respective restaurants. By doing so they achieve their goals and ultimately fulfill their mission statement The second mission statement of McDonalds describes the following approach: At McDonaldââ¬â¢s, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture- from the crew room to the board room, we are working to achieve this goal every day by creating an environment for everyone to contribute their best. Our journey to bring our values to life have been documented in ââ¬Å"None Of Us Is As Good As All Of Usâ⬠and it is a journey that continues today through our continued efforts with our employee business networks, diversity education, and our outreach in diversity communities. The value of mission statement for the Employees Mission statements hold an important and inspiring value to the employees. Likewise McDonalds mission statements work as a guideline for the employees so that they do their best to achieve the desired mission of the McDonalds. The value of mission statement for the customersà ââ¬Å"our customers are the reason for our existenceâ⬠. This is what the McDonalds mission statement defines. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE ââ¬Å"Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in manâ⬠. -Swami Vivekananda I strongly believe that perfection is already in man, inherent in his heart and soul and education is the medium through which we are able to manifest that perfection. This century can be credited with having given birth too many ideas, visions, way of living and working. It can be credited with almost as many revelations of thoughts and practices. The world is ever changing. An ambition to be a part of and to contribute to this fact changing process, a perpetual urge to learn quest, a profound desire to translate conception into reality made me opportunity for a Graduate program at your prestigious university. It has been my deepest desire to be a part of this rapid burgeoning community. With due reverence to the department and University, I pen down this Statement of purpose. In this ever changing world of Engineering and Technology, passing day makes them obsolete, I want to attain the highest level of education and transcend new scope for research in Mechanical Engineering. This has always fascinated me and I am keen to continue my academic pursuit in this field. I have always cherished a dream to become an Engineer, a dream that was innate and developed slowly over the years. Right from my school days I grew, my interest and ability were inclined towards the physical nature of the universe. Science unraveled many a mystery for me. Mathââ¬â¢s challenged me and gave me joy. Learning itself became a key to my life. My tryst with Automobileââ¬â¢s began during my childhood days when I had a great interest in Racing Sport and Cars. The idea of controlling a car has always been very thrilling and invigorating I remembered being hooked to the television, watching in amazement, an array of open wheeled cars circulates the track in a staggering fashion. Moreover, reading pertinent journals and magazines has helped me stay up-to-date with the recent advances in this fast-moving field. I always enjoyed analyzing and understanding the working of Automobiles, starting from experimenting on my toys to fixing my bike. It was then that I aspired to enter into this intriguing branch of Mechanical engineering and make my mark on the Automobile Industry. I would like to have a glance at my academic career which imbibed me potential to perform well and made me a commodious person. I did my schooling in the idyllic atmosphereà of which I gradually flourished as a versatile person where I got my first leap by scoring 75% in tenth standard. I scored 87 marks in mathematics and 82 in science; with this motivation I pursued Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major course in Intermediatewhere from, I secured 73.1% in higher secondary exam. The competitive spirit within me acted as a catalyst in all my academics successes. Pursuing Engineerin g as my future was a natural consequence because of my undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. I have benefited from the breadth of College of Engineering & Research, affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University one of the most prestigious university in India. The day of my undergraduate study helped me to get sound knowledge and a firm grasps over the principles underlying the course, which gave me an edge above other students. I excelled it with first class with distinction with an aggregate of 74.32%. The undergraduate study has given me a comprehensive exposure to a wide spectrum of courses in mechanical engineering namely, Strength of Materials, Design of Machine Members 1&2, Kinematics of Machinery, Thermodynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Mechanics of Solids, Robotics, Computer aided Design/Computer aided Manufacturing etc. I strongly believe in ââ¬Å"learning by doingâ⬠. It is the hope of coming up with path breaking results streaked with an element of uncertainty that makes experimental result extremely fascinating. I went beyond the four walls of the classroom, during my undergraduate course, I visited many industries in which I underwent five week technical training at Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), is a Department of Atomic Energy on the study of Manufacturing Extrusion Die on CNC Lathe Machine which includes itââ¬â¢s casting to final Product in plant and other applications. Later I had undergone industrial visit at Vizag Steel Plant popularly known as Vizag Steel is the most advanced steel producer in India with the help of German and soviet technology where I have learnt the process of Manufacturing of steel from its coke to final product. This provides to be a very valuable experience as it provided me with an industry exposure and a chance to showcase my technical knowledge in an industry based environment. I wanted to get closer look at the application of Mechanical Engineering. I presented a good number of technical papers at the national level. The first competition I took part was a National level Paper Presentation event conducted by NIT Rourkela, asà a part of ââ¬ËINNOVATION 2011ââ¬â¢ and I got Merit Certification. Then I participated in a ROBOTIC Work shop held at Kakatiya University, Warangal and I presented paper on ââ¬ËSolar & Hybrid Vehicleââ¬â¢ at VNR Vignan Jyothi and received a merit certification. And I have also participated as a Volunteer in a prestigious Social Activity like ââ¬â¢Hyderabad Literary Festivalââ¬â¢ held in January 2014. I have organized many technical and cultural events. All this extra-curricular activities have made me social accomplished with self-confidence, communicating skills, leadership qualities and team spirit. My major contribution towards research, leading the team in an academic oriented research main project ââ¬Å"Dynamic Analysis of Composite Propeller of Ship Using FEMâ⬠The project deals with modeling and analyzing the propeller blade by using ââ¬â¢C arbon Fiber Reinforced Plasticââ¬â¢ materials, to reduce the Vibrations & Noise in the Propeller. This requires high end Modeling softwareââ¬â¢s. The Solid model is developed in CATIA V5 R19, Tetrahedral mesh is generated in HYPER MESH and Static & Modal Analysis is done in ANSYS. The Analysis results showed that the natural frequencies of composite propeller were more than aluminum propeller, which indicates that the operation range of frequency is higher for composite materials. My role in this project as a team leader was to provide the basic functionality which deals with Modeling and analyzing was handled by my team mates along with my participation. The success of this project made me thirst in quest for a research in Design for Manufacturing, Advanced Material Technology and Design & Development which is the front and backend of my application. It has long been my ambition to pursue my studies in Automotive Engineering and to do it from a country like Germany will be a golden opportunity of my life. I know that Germany has got good reputation for higher education around the world. Its automotive industry is among the top manufacturers in the world with famous BMW and Mercedes as the leading success story of quality, modernity and comfort in automobiles. One final honest to goodness thought I have to admit in conclusion, I feel I would like to give back society all valuable and technical skills that I will be gaining from your university I am confident that graduate study in your department, which is already at the cutting edge, would provide me an excellent opportunity to reach my goal. Diverse background of students, distinguished faculty and research facilities at the institute will also help me to expand my horizons.

Hospital Atmosphere and a Noble Profession Essay
Hospital Atmosphere and a Noble Profession - Essay Example I had always developed an impression that hospitals and patients would do better with more readily available service. Hospitals are perpetually short of hands and either fewer nurses are available, or hospitals are not employing enough of them. Many times I have noticed that patients are more in need of constant help, whereas hospitals are unable to provide such help. This usually ends in patient dissatisfaction and deprival. While being hospitalized, people need more individual attention, constant companionship and staff presence. It is very important for me to get admission into nursing, as I cannot compromise with another career easily. I do not like to take up a career for which I do not feel a positive response. I would like to do the work that motivates me. And till now, hospital work is the only work in which I am sure, that I will find fulfilment. Hospital atmosphere inspires me to be kind and helpful to fellow human beings who are, at that moment, in need of help. It could b e due to the right vibes I received from my motherââ¬â¢s routine work in the hospital, or could be my own mental make-up; I always thought that nursing is a noble profession and never changed my mind on that ideal. It is imperative for me to find the right career at this juncture of my life so that I could proceed about my future in a systematic way and avoid confusion about the chosen goal. I would like to impress that I am passionate about this work and hope to have a long and fulfilling career in it.

Theories of Human Communication, the social media and the Arab spring Essay
Theories of Human Communication, the social media and the Arab spring - Essay Example The first wave of such a change was felt with the advent of mobile phones and the short messaging services (SMS) offered by them. Electronic media like e-mail and instant messaging followed next. Just when it seemed that communication couldnââ¬â¢t get any better, social media and networking via the internet took over, bringing people from every nook and corner of the world together onto a single platform. Though the world has been called a ââ¬Ëglobal villageââ¬â¢ since the beginning of this century, it was in this decade that the label served its true purpose. Human communication has attained a new definition, and is now at its full force through social media. Social media has been the major driving force behind the Arab uprising that is reverberating in the Arab world today, and it is only through social media that people are at freedom to voice their thoughts and fight for what they deserve. According to S.F. Scudder, "All living entities, beings and creatures communicate. They communicate through movements, sounds, reactions, physical changes, gestures, languages, breath, etcâ⬠1. This statement is a part of the theory of communication and is known as the ââ¬ËUniversal Communication Lawââ¬â¢. Indeed, communication is an integral part of living, and it is impossible to survive without it. Communication models and their relevance in todayââ¬â¢s times Adler and Rodman, in their insightful book, Understanding Human Communication, describe two different modes of communication, namely linear and transactional. According to the linear communication model, ââ¬Å"communication is like giving an injection: a sender encodes ideas and feelings into some sort of message and then conveys them to a receiver who decodes themâ⬠(12). Face-to-face contact and other conventional channels like writing are included in this form of communication. The transactional model of communication is more fluidic and relational. There is a ââ¬Å"simultaneous sen ding and receivingâ⬠of messages. This kind of communication includes mass media2 and social interaction. Face-to-face communication is decreasing rapidly, with the advent of social networking and electronic means of communication. In fact, many major surveys have pointed out that those who are more prone to the use of social networks are less likely to maintain face-to-face interactions in daily life. This brings us to the relevance of the linear mode of communication. While it is still a necessity in daily commute, human communication in recent times is largely based on the transactional model. Everyone is turning towards video conferencing, instant messaging, tweeting, and social networking in order to ââ¬Å"stay in touchâ⬠with acquaintances. How social media defines our lives today An assessment of the impact of social media, in recent times, indicates that a majority of the population depends on the internet for most of their daily needs. As described by Adler and R odman: Until recently, most social support came from personal acquaintances: friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, and so on. In the last ?fteen years, though, there has been an explosion of ââ¬Å"virtual communitiesâ⬠in which strangers meet online to share interests and concerns, and to gain support from one another on virtually every problem. The most popular support topics include medical conditions, eating disorders, sexual orientation, divorce, shyness, addictions, and loneliness (140). As is evident from this scenario,

Seven Years War Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Seven Years War - Essay Example During these seven years of battle, Britain and France differed and took parallel side in battle because both of them were eyeing North America as a colony of choice. India was dragged into war since it was a place of colonial interest by the major European powers, Britain and France. France got involved in the seven yearââ¬â¢s war because it was interested in the colonies which by coincidence were also the target of Britain. 3Because of this conflict of colonial interest with each of the two counties wanting to have a larger sphere of influence, war was inevitable. In this case India was just a victim of circumstances, drawn into war unprepared and unwillingly. The war ended with the signing of the Franco-British Treaty in 1963. In this treaty, Britain took Canada and Florida initially controlled by France and Spain respectively. France controlled the West Indian cane islands allowing Spain take Louisiana. Britain won the war as it managed to take both North America and India as its colonies4. The seven years war crowned Britain the master in abroad colonies. Frederick II the Great retained Silesia affirming Russiaââ¬â¢s as the main European

Thatââ¬â¢s their best hope for clean air." Government has an authoritarian effect on the media because writer is telling all the details about the bad quality air and said this problem cannot be resolved but he still said government is doing their level best. Vivian states that the premise of authoritarian media systems is that ââ¬Å"the government is infallible, which places its policies beyond questioningâ⬠(2011, p. 397). How is this attitude reflected in the Chinese article? In the Chinese article, writer tells all the facts about the bad air quality. He tells all the reasons and how this problem can be solved. His statement about government shows the authoritarian system that is ââ¬Å"Theyre doing all the right things, but unfortunately the right things may not be good

Should children under the age 14 be allowed to make treatment Research Paper - 1
Should children under the age 14 be allowed to make treatment decisions - Research Paper Example However, recently, such presumptions continue to receive criticism from policymakers and other activists, thereby raising the question of the justification of childrenââ¬â¢s decisions regarding their health. There have been several conflicts between the caregivers and the teens below 14 years regarding their welfare, and some childrenââ¬â¢s arguments seem justifiable over those of their parents (Cherry, 2013). As such, there is a critical need to address the issue, and give such kids a bigger voice in making decisions regarding their health. Besides, since such children have the direct impacts of their health conditions, they may suggest treatment modes that may improve their conditions (Cherry, 2013). However, the assistance of a physician is critical, and it should be at the best interest of the patient (minor) (Cherry, 2013). The key advantage of such a decision is that it will aid in the recovery of the child, particularly in emergencies where the caregiver may be unavailable. However, this ought to be within the allowed legal standards. Besides, children with long-term disorders are perceived to be more acquainted with their conditions, and hence they may make wise decisions regarding their health. This is evident in cases where parents advocate for a misinformed treatment prescription that only leads to the deterioration of such childrenââ¬â¢s conditions. Such cases have been evident in numerous US states, thereby highlighting the need for child involvement in cases regarding their health. However, owing to the legal obligations of parents to make such decisions, the challenges still loom (Cherry, 2013). Besides, negative consequences resulting from a physician allowing such children to make decisions concerning their health may compel the physicians to undergo unjustified legal proceedings, thereby jeopardizing their careers. Although children may be under the care of the parents and guardians, the childrenââ¬â¢s consent to treatment may
